Distance learning courses, also referred to as e-learning courses, are taught via the Internet and may be entirely or partly online. Courses taught partly online are identified as hybrid in CGCC class schedules. E-learning courses cover the same material as courses taught in person. To be successful in e-learning courses students should possess a reasonable level of comfort with technology and have consistent access to a computer with a reliable Internet service provider. E-learning courses are for students who are self-motivated and are able to learn independently using online tutorials and assignments. Communication among students, and between students and instructors, is mediated by Canvas, the Learning Management System (LMS) used for online and hybrid courses. Each student is assigned a Maricopa email address, which is the official means of electronic communication between the College and students.
